spinning

she has been clipping along
the garden path
unaware
just mowing down weeds

she has been hiding out
in the shadow of the valley
the longest shadow she has ever seen

she has been content
with a few trinkets in the closet
yet looks for more without any need

she has been present
but
absent minded presently

she wishes she could dance
with the stars
on a moonlit night
without glancing to see
if the old man ever took his eyes off her

she is full
she is consumed by this appetitie
she is eaten up
by this constant desire to fill her plate to overflowing

she needs to learn how to:
centre
to fasten herself to the ground
to touch the earth and make it stop spinning
